In this report, we look at the latest macroeconomic and political developments in the United Kingdom. General elections have been called for July 4 and the parliament will be dissolved this week. According to polls, Rishi Sunak (Conservative Party) is about 20-25 points behind Keir Starmer (Labour Party). The economy is recovering and the BoE is probably approaching a turning point in its monetary policy. However, we think these positive developments won’t be enough (and too late) to save the fate of the “outgoing” PM.
